Medicare help in Texas
Legacy Life Group holds a Texas insurance license and helps Texas residents compare Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement and prescription drug plans, at no cost.
Why local plan comparison matters in Texas
The Medicare Advantage plans available to you, their provider networks, their drug formularies and their premiums are set at the county level. Medicare Supplement pricing also varies by state and by carrier. A plan that is excellent one county over may not even exist in yours.
As independent agents serving Texas, we compare the plans that are actually offered where you live, check them against your doctors and your medication list, and give you a straight recommendation. If staying put is your best move, we will tell you that too.

Medicare in Texas: what's different
Medicare is a federal program, but a few important rules and resources are set state by state. Here is what applies in Texas.
Medicare Advantage in Texas
About 59% of Texans with Medicare Parts A and B are in a Medicare Advantage plan in 2026. Texas has about 5 million people on Medicare, and plan choices vary widely between big metro areas and rural counties.

Medigap rules in Texas
In Texas, people under 65 with Medicare because of a disability can buy Medigap Plan A during the 6 months after Part B starts, and any plan at 65. Since September 1, 2025, people under 65 with ESRD or ALS can buy any plan offered to people 65 and older, with Plans A, B and D at the age-65 rate. Texas has no "birthday rule" for switching plans.
Help paying for Medicare
If your income is limited, a Medicare Savings Program can pay your Part B premium and sometimes more. In Texas, apply through the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (Your Texas Benefits). For help with drug costs, you can also apply for Extra Help through Social Security.
Free counseling and license checks
HICAP (Health Information, Counseling and Advocacy Program) offers free, unbiased Medicare counseling at 1-800-252-9240. You can look up any agent's license, including ours, with the Texas Department of Insurance.

Can I buy a Medicare Supplement in Texas if I am under 65?
